Clarence, NY
Clarence is a town located in the northeastern part of Erie County, New York. It is a suburb of Buffalo, NY. The town is named in honor of Prince William, Duke of Clarence and St Andrews. Clarence was the first town to be established in Erie County in 1808. By the end of the 19th century, industry began coming to the town. The industries that came included brick kiln, potash mining, and gypsum mining.
The town covers a total area of 53.6 square miles. 53.5 square miles of that is land and the remaining .12 square miles is water. Today, Clarence is mostly a suburb but has some light industry and agriculture. Over 32,000 people call the town home as well. Most of them own vehicles because they work outside the town at places in the surrounding area including Buffalo. The area experiences hot summers and harsh winters. During winters, the roads are salted which causes rust and damage to the vehicles in the area.
